Lotus Ember Restaurants
Background and brief
Lotus Ember is conceived as a contemporary Pan-Asian restaurant where culinary exploration and spatial storytelling merge to create an immersive dining experience. The concept draws inspiration from Asia’s diverse food cultures, ranging from vibrant street markets to refined communal dining traditions, translated into a cohesive, modern environment that celebrates flavor, fire, and shared moments. The brief called for a restaurant that goes beyond dining, offering guests a journey through taste, atmosphere, and cultural reference.
The design narrative was envisioned as a journey across Asia, with each zone reflecting a distinct culinary mood and rhythm. From market-inspired arrivals to intimate dining nooks and a dynamic open kitchen, the space needed to mirror the progression of the menu, from bold, aromatic beginnings to slow, ember-driven mains, while allowing guests to engage with the process, energy, and craftsmanship behind the cuisine.
Our Solution
Materiality became a key tool in supporting the gastronomic concept. Reclaimed wood, ceramic tiles, stone textures, and warm metals reference traditional Asian craft while remaining firmly rooted in a contemporary aesthetic. These elements are layered with greenery, soft lighting, and tactile surfaces to evoke warmth, depth, and sensory richness, echoing the complexity of the dishes served.
The open show kitchen forms the heart of Lotus Ember, placing culinary creation at the center of the experience. Flames, steam, and movement animate the space, reinforcing the connection between food and environment. Communal tables encourage sharing and discovery, while more secluded seating areas provide moments of intimacy and calm.
Guided by balance, between tradition and modernity, energy and restraint, bold flavors and composed surroundings, the design of Lotus Ember enhances the culinary journey. The result is a thoughtfully crafted restaurant environment that invites guests to explore the richness of Pan-Asian cuisine within an engaging and welcoming setting.
