Solenne Restaurants
Background and brief
Solenne is conceived as an Italian restaurant brand that celebrates the warmth, generosity, and everyday elegance of Italian dining culture. The interior concept is inspired by the feeling of entering a familiar home rather than a formal restaurant. The brief called for a spatial identity that evokes the soul of Italy through sensory cues, craftsmanship, and material authenticity, while remaining contemporary, adaptable, and welcoming across different moments of the day.
Rather than referencing a specific region, Solenne draws from a collective Italian memory: the scent of lemon trees, the ritual of fresh bread on the table, the openness of a shared kitchen, and the social rhythm of long meals enjoyed together. The interior needed to support this narrative by offering a variety of dining settings, from lively communal zones to more intimate corners, while maintaining a cohesive and timeless character throughout the space.
Our Solution
The interior design of Solenne is structured as a sequence of distinct yet interconnected zones, each reflecting a different aspect of Italian lifestyle and hospitality. Spaces such as the Bottega, Giardino, Cucina, Comunale, and Salottino are carefully composed to create a fluid journey through the restaurant, allowing guests to choose how they engage with the space, whether through social dining, quiet conversation, or direct interaction with the kitchen.
Materiality plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere. Natural stone, travertine, terrazzo, terracotta tiles, raw plaster finishes, exposed brick, and warm walnut wood form a tactile and honest palette that references traditional Italian architecture and craft. These materials are layered with soft textiles, leather upholstery, and greenery to introduce comfort, warmth, and a sense of lived-in elegance.
The open kitchen and pizza oven act as a focal point, reinforcing the idea that cooking is at the heart of the experience. Flames, movement, and aromas become part of the spatial identity, blurring the boundary between kitchen and dining. Communal tables encourage sharing and conviviality, while banquettes, booths, and smaller seating clusters provide moments of intimacy and retreat.
Lighting is warm and atmospheric, designed to enhance textures and create a relaxed, inviting mood from day to night. Decorative pendants, integrated lighting, and subtle highlights work together to define zones without rigid separation. Throughout the space, proportion, rhythm, and craftsmanship guide the design approach, ensuring the interior feels balanced, human-scaled, and timeless.
