Italian dining in the heart of Zagreb

Background and brief

Tomassino is an Italian restaurant in the heart of Zagreb, envisioned as a contemporary dining destination for business lunches, relaxed daytime visits, and refined evening dining. The space needed to feel urban, elegant, and timeless, adapting seamlessly to different times of day and dining moods.

The key challenge was to create an atmosphere that is both intimate and open, sophisticated yet approachable. The interior was expected to support the culinary experience through comfort, acoustic balance, and material quality, allowing food, service, and space to work together harmoniously.

Our Solution

A warm, neutral palette of natural wood, stone-like finishes, soft textiles, and leather creates a calm and inviting setting. An open layout with thoughtfully arranged seating subtly defines zones while maintaining visual continuity and privacy. Comfortable banquettes, upholstered chairs, and custom tables encourage relaxed dining and reinforce a sense of quality. Layered lighting shapes a warm atmosphere that transitions effortlessly from day to night.

Italian identity is expressed through balance, proportion, and material choice rather than literal references, resulting in a confident, understated interior that quietly complements Tomassino’s culinary focus and enriches Zagreb’s dining scene.
